Specialty flowers growing at Wendland Family Farm in West Point, Iowa.

Rooted in the farm. Created to inspire. Made for learning, growing, and creating wherever you are.

If there's one thing I've learned through our journey at Wendland Family Farm, it's that growing is about so much more than what comes out of the ground. It's about the lessons learned along the way. It's about watching a tiny seed become something beautiful, discovering new skills, making memories with family, and finding joy in the simple things.

And sometimes, it's about sharing those experiences with others.

Today, I'm excited to introduce something I've been working on behind the scenes: the Wendland Family Farm Digital Library.

It's a collection of educational guides, hands-on learning resources, printable activities, stories, and creative inspiration—all rooted in the things we grow, teach, and experience here on our family farm in West Point, Iowa.

And the best part?

You don't have to live nearby to enjoy them.

From Our Farm to Your Home

When we started Wendland Family Farm, I knew I wanted it to be more than a place where we grew flowers and vegetables. I wanted it to be a place where people could learn, create, connect, and experience the beauty of agriculture firsthand. Over time, that vision has continued to grow.

Through our flower fields, vegetable gardens, workshops, children's educational programs, and everyday farm experiences, I've discovered just how much I enjoy sharing what we learn. Whether we're starting seeds, harvesting herbs, arranging flowers, experimenting with sourdough, or exploring nature with children, there always seems to be another opportunity to learn something new.

But not everyone can visit our farm. Some of you live across Iowa. Others are in completely different states. Some are growing their first garden, while others have years of experience. Some are homeschooling young children, and others simply enjoy creating something beautiful with their hands. That's where the idea for our Digital Library began.

I wanted to find a way to share a little piece of Wendland Family Farm with you, wherever you call home.

A Library Designed for Growing, Learning & Creating

Our Digital Library is filled with resources inspired by real experiences on our farm and the things our family enjoys learning and sharing. Whether you're looking for practical gardening guidance, a creative afternoon project, or an educational activity to enjoy with your children, there's something here for you. Let me introduce you to the collections.

Flower Farm

Flowers have always held a special place in my heart. There's something incredibly rewarding about planting a tiny seed, nurturing it through the growing season, and eventually gathering beautiful blooms to share.

Our Flower Farm collection is designed to help you experience that same joy. You'll find resources covering cut flower gardening, growing flowers at home, arranging beautiful bouquets, and caring for fresh flowers. Whether you're dreaming of your first cutting garden or simply want to enjoy flowers a little longer, these guides are here to help.

Vegetable Garden

Growing your own food is one of those skills that continues teaching you something new every season. And you certainly don't need acres of land to get started.

Our Vegetable Garden collection includes practical resources for garden planning, seed starting, soil blocking, seedling care, spacing, and other foundational gardening skills.

These guides are designed to make gardening feel approachable, whether you're planting your first raised bed or planning a larger growing space.

Herb Garden

Herbs are some of my favorite things to grow because they're beautiful, useful, and surprisingly versatile. From fresh herbs in the kitchen to preserving the harvest for later, there's so much you can do with even a small herb garden.

Our Herb Garden collection offers inspiration and practical guidance for growing herbs and incorporating them into everyday life.

Harvest & Home

One of my favorite parts of growing things is finding ways to enjoy the harvest long after the growing season ends. That's the inspiration behind Harvest & Home. This collection brings together hands-on guides for seasonal projects, preserving garden treasures, and creating beautiful things for your home.

You'll discover topics such as dried floral wreaths, pressed flowers, simmer pots, seasonal porch pots, edible flowers, and garden-to-table projects. It's about bringing a little of the garden indoors and finding creative ways to enjoy what we grow.

Little Bloomers

As a homeschooling mom, I believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when children have the opportunity to explore, ask questions, and discover the world around them. That's one of the reasons I created Little Bloomers.

Designed for children ages 2–7, our Little Bloomers resources introduce young learners to gardening, flowers, pollinators, nature, and life on the farm through hands-on educational adventures. The digital workshops are designed to be enjoyed at home, in homeschool settings, or anywhere children are encouraged to explore and learn. My hope is that these resources inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.

Sourdough

There's something special about making bread from scratch. It's a process that encourages patience, practice, and a willingness to keep learning.

Our Sourdough collection includes beginner-friendly guides, starter care resources, recipes, and practical information to help you feel more confident in your kitchen. Whether you're creating your first starter or looking for ways to improve your sourdough routine, these resources are designed to help you along the way.

Books & Stories

Stories have a wonderful way of bringing people together. Our Books & Stories collection is inspired by the values, experiences, and everyday moments that make farm and family life meaningful. These digital books offer opportunities to slow down, read together, reflect, and enjoy stories rooted in growing, family, and the seasons of life.

Journals, Faith & Gentle Growth

Not all growing happens in a garden. Sometimes, growth looks like finding a quiet moment to reflect, learning to appreciate the season you're in, or being reminded that meaningful things often take time.

Our Journals, Faith & Gentle Growth collection includes printable journals, prayers, and encouraging resources inspired by faith, gratitude, and intentional living.

They're gentle reminders to slow down, reflect, and continue growing in your own way.

Created to Be Used, Not Just Collected

One of my biggest goals with this library is to create resources that people will actually use.

I want these guides to help you feel more confident planting your first garden.

I want the children's activities to inspire afternoons spent exploring outside.

I want the creative projects to encourage you to try something new.

And I want the stories and journals to provide moments of connection and reflection.

You don't need to be an experienced gardener, a professional flower farmer, or an expert baker to begin. You simply need a little curiosity and a willingness to learn.

A Growing Collection

Just like our farm, the Digital Library will continue to grow. We'll be adding more educational workshops, gardening resources, seasonal guides, and creative projects as new ideas take root. Some resources will follow the seasons, while others are designed to be enjoyed throughout the year.

My hope is that the library becomes a place you can return to whenever you're looking for a little inspiration, practical guidance, or something meaningful to create.

Thank You for Growing Alongside Us

When I look at everything Wendland Family Farm has become, I'm reminded that none of it happens overnight. It happens one seed, one season, one lesson, and one experience at a time.

I'm grateful for every person who has supported our family farm, visited our flower fields, attended a workshop, purchased a bouquet, or simply followed along with our journey.

The Digital Library is another way for us to share what we're learning and growing.

And I'm excited that it allows us to connect with people far beyond our little corner of southeast Iowa.

Whether you're here for flowers, gardening, homeschooling, sourdough, creative projects, or simply a little encouragement, I'm so glad you've found us.

Welcome to the Wendland Family Farm Digital Library.

I hope you find something that inspires you to grow, learn, or create.

With gratitude,

Erica
