Farm-grown kohlrabi plants ready for your home garden.
Grow crisp, fresh kohlrabi at home with healthy starts grown right here at Wendland Family Farm.
Our Kohlrabi Starts are grown from seed and cared for on the farm until they're ready to head home to your garden. This cool-season vegetable is a fun addition to the spring garden, producing a crisp, mild-flavored swollen stem that can be enjoyed both raw and cooked.
Slice it for fresh snacking, shred it into slaws, roast it with other vegetables, add it to soups, or simply enjoy it straight from the garden.
Varieties may include:
Green kohlrabi • purple kohlrabi • specialty varieties
Specific varieties will be listed as options when available.
Growing at Home
Kohlrabi is a cool-season vegetable that grows best during the milder temperatures of spring and fall.
Plant in a sunny location with fertile, well-drained soil.
Keep plants consistently watered to encourage tender growth and give them enough space for the swollen stems to develop above the soil line.
For the best texture and flavor, harvest kohlrabi while the bulbs are still young and tender rather than allowing them to become oversized.
And don't forget the leaves—they're edible too and can be prepared similarly to other hearty greens.

From Our Garden to Yours
Kohlrabi is one of those vegetables that tends to make people stop and ask, “What is that?”
And that's part of why we love growing it.
It's crisp, versatile, surprisingly easy to use, and a fun way to grow something a little different in your home garden.
We start ours from seed here on the farm and send them home ready for you to take it from there.
