Growing needs vary by herb, but most appreciate plenty of sunshine and well-drained soil.
 
Many herbs grow beautifully in containers, raised beds, or directly in the garden.
 
Before planting all six together, consider the mature size and growing habits of your selections.
 
Some herbs—especially mint—are happiest in their own container where their spreading growth can be kept in check.
 
Regular harvesting once plants are established can encourage continued fresh growth throughout the season.
