Farm-grown broccoli plants ready for your home garden.

Grow crisp, garden-fresh broccoli at home with healthy starts grown right here at Wendland Family Farm.

Our Broccoli Starts are grown from seed and cared for on the farm until they're ready to head home to your garden. Broccoli thrives during the cooler parts of the growing season, making it a great addition to the spring garden.

Enjoy your harvest fresh, roasted, steamed, added to soups and casseroles, or preserved for later.

We may grow several broccoli varieties throughout the season based on flavor, performance, and suitability for our Iowa growing conditions.

Specific varieties will be listed as options when available.

Growing at Home

Broccoli is a cool-season vegetable and grows best during the milder temperatures of spring and fall.

Plant in a location that receives plenty of sunlight with fertile, well-drained soil.

Keep plants consistently watered, particularly as heads begin developing.

Harvest the main broccoli head while the buds are still tight and before the flowers begin opening.

After the main head is harvested, many varieties will continue producing smaller side shoots for additional harvests.

From Our Garden to Yours

Some of the first plants heading into the garden each year are the ones that don't mind a little cool Iowa weather.

We start our broccoli from seed here on the farm and care for the young plants until they're ready for the garden—giving you a head start on growing your own fresh food at home.

Grown on our farm. Ready for your garden.
